New Vintage Finds at The Found Cottage

Style & Fashion

July 2, 2020

It has felt so so good to get out and go picking lately for The Found Cottage and while I’ve been finding some pieces for myself I have found some great pieces that i’ve brought to our shop in west Michigan. Have I mentioned before how good it feels to be BACK OPEN!!?! It will never be taken for granted how much we love seeing you enjoy our shop. It feels good to have fresh new vintage finds and pieces in and just maybe have the piece you’ve been looking for.

Victorian Cast Iron Chair

I found the most amazing chairs from the loveliest woman last week. As I was driving home with them strapped to the top of my husbands truck I kept going back and forth.. my garden or the shop my garden or the shop… If they end up not going home with someone else I might end up bringing them home with me.

I see a lot of reproductions of this type of chair and these are the real (heavy) real deal. They are beautifully made and have the perfect amount of patina.

Mid Century Wicker Bistro Set

This set is another find that is knocked off quite a bit. This little bistro set is reproduced with a resin type material but this sweet little set is the real deal wicker. The seats are durable and would be adorable with a round cushion. Perfect for a corner of a sunroom or relaxing on the back deck.

I bought three large pieces last week and was thrilled when joe was willing to load up the trailer and bring them all to the shop with me. I think he was thrilled that they were not going to our home our barn ahaha. This is an antique wood secretary from the late 1800’s. It even still has the skeleton key to open the lower desk part. When it opens the desk rests on the two bottom cupboards. It has a glass front which is perfect for storing all of your collections.

This glass cabinet was one of the three big pieces I brought to the shop. It has the thick display glass and dental molding around the top. I’ve wanted one forever in the shop and finally found one at a reasonable price. I thought it would be so beautiful as a tv stand filled with collections and beautiful pieces. Imagine it stacked full of monochromatic books? While it is being used to display pieces at the store it is for sale (and can be yours).

The last big piece I brought in was this vintage primitive step back cupboard. The wood is so thick and weathered it would be the perfect addition to the modern farmhouse. The color is a slightly off blue gray and has original hardware. It would be really cute styled in a mudroom to keep your garden supplies and keys all in one place.

Antiquing is a huge source of joy for me and I just absolutely love being able to share it with you all at the store. Have you been able to get out and about lately to find any treasures? We are going to be loading more product on our website soon including vintage so stay tuned !
