10 Feel Good Romantic Comedies to Binge Now

Lifestyle

March 26, 2020

I’ve never been one to enjoy scary movies or deep thinking movies. I feel like horror and drama cause way to much anxiety for me. If I am going to watch a movie, I want to laugh and feel good. Especially right now. While we are all home social distancing I thought it would be fun to share some of my all time favorite romantic comedies that will leave you laughing and feeling good.

My 10 Favorite Rom Coms to watch Now

When Harry Met Sally – I feel like I am always watching this on my flights but it always makes me laugh. I love the dynamics of the relationship between Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. Their friendship evolves over time and eventually grows to love. They’re funny and quirky and you feel like you know them in real life.

Pride and Prejudice – Please watch simply for Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy. He is arguably the best Mr. Darcy of all time with his swagger and stoic faces. He’s exactly as I pictured him when reading the book. Also the cinematography  in the 2005 adaptation is just breath taking.

Laws of Attraction – You might not have heard of this one but it stars Julianne Moore and Pierce Brosnan as two lawyers who fall in love while working the opposite sides of the case. Cliche yes but Parker Posey in this movie is hilarious and the neurotic Julianne Moore paired with the laid back Pierce Brosnan is just the perfect fit. Also Frances Fisher who plays Julianne Moore’s mom is one of the best parts of the movie.

Breakfast at Tiffany’sCome for the wardrobe stay for George Peppard. I have watched this movie 1000 times and I still think that my favorite outfit in the entire movie was that big bold orange wool coat they wear when going out around town.

Dirty Dancing  – That scene when Patrick Swayze first meets Jennifer Grey and motions for her to come over. Dang. I remember watching this movie at a friends house in middle school because I wasn’t allowed to watch it. As an adult rewatching it now, I get it mom. Don’t worry I had no idea what 90% of that stuff meant in 6th grade.

My 10 Favorite Rom Coms to watch Now

Gone with the Wind I watched this movie almost every Sunday afternoon while growing up. I had it in color and it was a 2 tape VHS set. From a very early age I always thought that Ashley was a weenie and Rhett was the man. Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn. Drops Mic.

Pretty Woman The scene where the mean girls of rodeo dr. don’t let her shop. Epic. When Richard Gere busts in and sets the record straight, even more epic. Also the outfit she wears to the polo match I would argue is even more iconic than the red off the shoulder gown she wears to the opera.

10 Things I hate about you – If I had a dollar for every time I told my friend Ashley “There is a difference between like and love. Because, I like my skechers but I love my prada backpack.” I would have about $23. This movie has so many good one liners and also young Heath Ledger.

You’ve Got Mail –  It is totally nostalgic to think about the days we would sit and wait for dialup and get to AOL to hear “You’ve Got Mail”. Ah the simpler times. I love the setting of Meg Ryan’s little family book store, it reminds me of my favorite book store in downtown holland, Readers world. Also Tom Hanks… Love him in this movie.

Bridget Jones’s Diary – One and Two. The third left me going meh I didn’t need Patrick Dempsey. But if you have the time might as well watch it. I love these movies because of the distraction of Hugh Grant while we all know who the right choice is. Also the shape wear seen… Every woman’s struggle.
