gangs all here

hooray the gang is all here and back together again. after a week of hunting in texas joe is finally back home with us. single parents. how the heck. like seriously you are my new heroes. i know that somehow with each situation we just make it work but not having the support of your spouse makes things 1o times longer, harder and frustrating. i can’t complain too much if not at all because honestly, otto is a good, very routine baby but man. just missed having someone to talk to. and not to mention someone who knows how to fix the water when the pipes randomly freeze.

this weekend was christmas parties, traditions and just spending time together. friday night it was just otto and i at home. it was so cozy and quiet. the snow was falling and i made myself a deep rich hot chocolate with marshmallows and wrapped gifts while otto played on his mat next to me. we were super awesome and went to bed at 9pm.

saturday morning i spent time getting the house picked up and things put away, laundry, dishes heck i even vacuumed. after the morning we headed into the store to work for a bit before meeting up with joe and going to our first christmas party of the season. it was just joe and i because of otto’s health we decided that this year we were not going to be doing any extended family parties with him. it’s a bummer but honestly there will be plenty of time for that. you just don’t know who is going to get sick and carrying what and it’s just one of those things that will be there for next year.

sunday morning we woke up to feed the kid and sat and drank coffee watching random bits of christmas shows on tv. we packed up and headed to brunch at the southerner and then to downtown holland to see santa. i really debated about taking otto to see santa because of germs but this santa was not in a germ pit mall. we went to home and company and  there was just a few people there walking around. we walked right in, got our picture with santa and then headed straight out. we got home and just worked around the house. i wrapped a few more gifts, drank about a half pot more of coffee and then we made a dinner together of skirt steak and potatoes before calling it a night.

let the count down to christmas begin!
