Fun Fall Toddler Activities

We have had so much fun soaking in all of the fun fall activities during the beautiful fall weather here in Michigan. We have been trying to do one fall activity each weekend together and it has been so much fun watching otto explore and experience all that Michigan has to offer. We have had such a good time I thought I would share three of our favorite fall activities from this season.

  1. Apple Picking at Crane’s. Crane’s orchard, U-Pick and Pie house is located in Fennville, Michigan about 20 minutes from our house. We went there on a colder cloudy Sunday afternoon but that didn’t stop us from running around the orchard. Otto had so much fun playing in the pumpkin house and once he learned how to pick the apples off the trees he was such a big helper putting them all into the bag. We have been snacking on them for the past week! My suggestion to beat the crowd is to go a little later in the season. There won’t be as big of a selection left but if you are going for the experience and the pie after it’s best to go after the initial rush when fall hits. I also think it helped that we went on an overcast day. Plus side: it was even better for snapping some photos.
  2. Visiting the local farmers market. We went on a Saturday morning to get muffins and some hot cider and took a walk around our local farmers market in Holland, Michigan. Joe and I both went to Hope College so it was fun to walk around the campus and hit up our local market. It is SO much cheaper to visit and support your local farmers here rather than going to a health food store. Squash here is $1 and at select stores I’ve seen it as high as $2.49/pound. You’d be looking at a $6 small squash! We picked up some dried beans and root veggies for dinner that week.
  3. Post Family Farm. I took otto here late in the afternoon last week. I took him after the morning rush but before school got out. We left once the school busses started coming because it instantly got busier. Before that we pretty much had the play area to ourselves. Otto LOVED climbing through the tunnels and going down the huge slide. He even ate his first pumpkin donut! It was such a good quiet time letting him run around and burn off some energy!

There is still so many other fun things we would like to do before winter hits. We still want to bake a pie and carve our pumpkins. We also have to put the finishing touches on Otto’s halloween costume. Any guesses what he is going to be? I can’t wait to show you! Until then, what are some of your favorite fall activities to do with kids? Do you have any special traditions? Please share below!
